If you live in or near Nassau or Suffolk County in Long Island and you\u2019re spending time outdoors this summer, then listen up! Officials in both counties have recently announced that a sample of mosquitoes from the area have tested positive for the West Nile virus.<\/p>\n

Associated Symptoms<\/h2>\n

Most people infected with the West Nile virus will experience no symptoms at all; however, it can cause fever, rash, headache, fatigue and joint pain. In very rare cases, the West Nile virus can lead to muscle weakness, stiff neck, disorientation, tremors, convulsions, paralysis and coma. Symptoms that do find their way to your body will typically begin three to 14 days after being bit by a mosquito carrying the virus.<\/p>\n
