The blacklegged tick transmits a host of dangerous illnesses, stays active year-round, and causes good reason to obtain tick treatments. Organic tick control methods offer comparable protection to that of synthetic treatments without the dangerous chemicals. The disease\r\nis so rampant and causes so many symptoms, including many that we are still\r\nunsure of, that often when people experience an unidentified medical issue,\r\nLyme disease is looked at as a probable culprit. Lyme disease is often\r\naccompanied by a circular rash, but not always. Lyme causes issues such as\r\nfevers, head, muscle, and joint pain, heart palpitations, nerve pain, breathing\r\ndifficulty, dizziness, and severe symptoms such as swelling of the joints,\r\nmemory problems, facial palsy, and inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.<\/li><li><strong>Blacklegged ticks transmit the Powassan Virus <\/strong>The Powassan virus is dangerous in part because\r\nof the areas of the body it tends to attack. In mild cases, sufferers can\r\nexhibit flu-like symptoms, but in severe cases, the illness can attack the\r\ncentral nervous system causing a host of problems, some of which are\r\nlife-threatening. The POW virus can lead to encephalitis and meningitis. Neurological\r\nissues caused by the Powassan virus include confusion, loss of coordination,\r\nseizures, memory difficulties and speech difficulties. Half of POW survivors\r\nexperience permanent damage such as recurrent headaches, memory issues, and\r\nloss of muscle.<\/li><li><strong>Blacklegged ticks transmit babesiosis <\/strong>From a symptom perspective, babesiosis is similar\r\nto malaria.&nbsp; Milder symptoms consist of\r\nmuscle, joint, abdominal, and head pain, coughing, vomiting, sore throat, light\r\nsensitivity, and eye irritations such as pink eye. More severe issues include\r\nweight loss, depression, enlarged liver, jaundice, neutropenia, pharyngeal\r\nerythema, enlarged spleen, and advanced eye problems such as retinopathy and\r\nretinal infarcts.<\/li><li><strong>The tick issue is a compounding problem <\/strong>Each year, the tick populations on Long Island\r\nget denser. It has gotten so that residents cannot take advantage of all the\r\nwonderful outdoor activities on the island due to tick infestations in wooded\r\nand grassy areas as well as in beach dunes. Just like populations in public\r\noutdoor areas are exploding, properties left untreated can experience massive infestations\r\nas well and sadly, those infestations can make their way inside of resident\u2019s\r\nhomes. By obtaining professional organic treatments each year, homeowners will\r\nsee year over year improvements in tick populations. Consistent treatments are\r\nthe key to minimizing ticks on properties.<\/li><li><strong>Organic treatments offer effective coverage with\r\nno harsh chemicals <\/strong>Organic treatments\r\nare available in spray form as well as in non-spray options such as permethrin\r\ntreated tick-tubes.
